The Desalination Decision

I have created this blog to serve as an unbiased guide to the decision to reactivate the Charles Meyer Desalination Plant in Santa Barbara. I found that there is a lot of information floating around on the internet about this desalination facility, but most of it lacks the important facts that the public should know. I want to provide a clear blog that only posts the most crucial information about the facility. Though I do use some internet websites, my primary source for this blog is the City of Santa Barbara and the reports and studies that they release. I hope that this blog will give you all the information you need to fully understand the desalination decision.

A Brief Introduction

The city of Santa Barbara is currently deciding whether or not they should reactivate their old desalination plant, the Charles Meyer Desalination plant. With all the talk of drought surrounding the California area, it is no surprise that the desalination plant is being considered as a solution to water scarcity. In 2011, a report was released from the Santa Barbara water district that stated that in the sixth year of a drought reactivating the desalination plant would be incredibly important for the water district. Since it will take time to restart the desalination plant, city officials must make the decision now, in the third year of the drought, if they are to have the desalination in the sixth year. I have created this blog with the intention to provide unbiased information about the Charles Meyer Desalination project as well as the desalination process in general. I hope that you will find it a useful guide to the issue!
